Our Work

horizontal rule image At Unbuckled, we are dedicated to fighting caregiver discrimination, especially for those caring for children with long-term illnesses or disabilities. Balancing a child’s healthcare needs with understanding legal rights can be overwhelming, leading to financial and legal challenges that increase family stress and can negatively impact children's health outcomes. With over 200,000 children admitted to hospitals for extended stays since 2021, the need for our services is clearer than ever.

Legal Support

At Unbuckled, our core mission is to address caregiver discrimination, particularly for those looking after children with long-term illnesses or disabilities. The legal challenges caregivers face can be overwhelming, from understanding employment rights to navigating disputes with employers. Many caregivers and even employers are not fully aware of their legal rights and responsibilities, which can lead to conflicts, financial strain, and unnecessary stress.

Unbuckled provides crucial legal support to bridge this knowledge gap. We offer guidance on existing laws, help in negotiating with employers, and support through legal proceedings if needed. Our aim is to ensure that caregivers can focus on what’s most important—caring for their child—without the added burden of legal complexities.

Employer Assistance

Unbuckled partners with employers to support caregivers of children facing long-term illness or disability—employees who are often navigating some of the most difficult moments of their lives. We know that thriving businesses are built on strong, supported individuals, and that caregiving in complex medical situations brings emotional, financial, and legal challenges that can deeply affect work and well-being. By providing access to legal and financial resources, Unbuckled helps employers show up for their people in meaningful ways, allowing working parents to focus on what matters most.

This kind of support isn’t just good for families—it’s good for business. When caregivers feel seen, supported, and understood, it builds trust, strengthens loyalty, and fuels resilience across teams. Unbuckled helps bridge the gap between policy and people, equipping companies with the tools to respond with both compassion and clarity.
